Geoff Ransom Artist Statement
Geoff Ransom was born in London in 1946. He spent 3 years studying graphic design at Harrow School of Art in the 1960’s. The ensuing years were spent-variously-as a designer in industry, with advertising and design consultancies, and as a freelance. Eventually becoming somewhat disenchanted with the world of advertising, and regarding himself as one of the “Old School”-not wishing to embrace the computer revolution-he sought a change of direction.
An interest in mental health, led him to undertake a person-controlled counselling course, which led on to employment in mental health and a 3 year university qualifying course to become a registered mental health nurse. Now retired from mental health, he has returned to painting more than ever, and has a studio at the Pannier Market Callington.
His love of coastal areas is evident in the work on display at the Jane Room, Stuart House .
