Jane Austin 1775-1817

An exhibition commemorating the 200th Anniversary of her death on 18th July 1817

The epic literary history of Jane Austin lives on,  in her novels being produced for readers, theatre goers, films, television, videos and dvds.

This display is put together to remind visitors, young and old, of what has been achieved by a young lady with an awareness of the things happening around her in everyday life.

Today producers and directors, actors and cameramen present us with heroes, heroines and villains true to Jane’s observations as she experienced all those years ago.  Some of the scenes present in this display derive from the  memorable BBC production Pride and Prejudice; a wonderful example of British talent and workmanship as with all Jane Austin productions of the BBC
